About Us

The Urban Pet Project is more then just an animal rescue, it is also an education center. We believe in three principals that will decrease the amount of homeless pets.

1) Spay And Neuter: The UPP is offering spay/ neuter vouchers to pet owners with lower income. By spaying and neutering, unwanted litters will no longer be a concern.

2) Education: The UPP offers education programs to schools and civic organizations to increase knowledge of the anti-tethering law and the reasons behind it, spaying/neutering pets, what is involved with pet ownership, the reasons to adopt instead of purchasing a pet, as well as other animal rights issues. Our goal with these education programs is to keep pets healthy and in their original homes. UPP is also offering help to owners who are contemplating surrendering their pets to keep them. Through training, low cost shots, or finding other ways to meet the needs owners may have, we work to keep a happy pet in a otherwise good home.

3) Adoption And Transport: UPP is transporting animals that were not homed in Atlanta to rescues in the Northeastern U.S. with waiting adopters.  Local adoptions through our center offers a chance for local adopters to become educated owners of their new pets. Both methods lessens the burden placed on Fulton County Animal Services.

UPP also  serves as a resource center to other animal welfare groups. We offer donated food to rescues facing hard times, as well as  workshops from marketing professionals to help each rescue get a foot up, as well classes on vaccines, cleaning and more from professionals within those fields.
